Graduated Student Group

Sponsored by Catholic Campus Ministry at North Carolina State University

About Us

The Graduate[d] Catholics group is geared toward young adults transitioning from college life. Our mission is to develop faith and promote a sense of community through a variety of activities.

We are a community...
We endeavor to build friendships and strengthen community through a variety of social gatherings (sports events, coffee shops, movies, parties, etc.)

...of faith...
We seek to challenge each other and ourselves to ask questions and grow in our faith. Members of the group alternate leading discussions about life and faith that are based on various readings designed to stimulate thought.

...and service.
We desire to strengthen our community through participating in opportunities to serve the community at large.

Current Opportunities

Fall 2010 Reading:
Creating a World Without Poverty: Social Business and the Future of Capitalism by Muhammad Yunus

Meetings typically occur on Sunday night after the 7pm Mass and alternate between discussion on the current reading, topical discussions, social events, and service opportunities. Feel free to come!

    What's coming up?

  • MOVIE NIGHT: Sunday, September 5th, 6pm
Since there is no 7pm Mass this Sunday, we will be having a movie night at Marie's house at 6pm. We will be watching Clue and it is BYOB and feel free to bring a snack to share. Email Marie (marie.panepinto@gmail.com) for directions and to let her know you are coming.

  • CREATING A WORLD WITHOUT POVERTY: Sunday, September 12th, 8pm
We are currently planning to begin our discussion of Creating a World Without Poverty by Muhammad Yunus on Sunday, September 12th after the 7pm Mass at the Doggett Center. If our book order does not arrive in time, we will begin the following week.

  • ST. MICHAEL'S GAME NIGHT: Thursday, September 9th, 7pm
The St. Michael Young Adult Ministry is having a night of games and fun on Thursday, September 9th. This event will be held on the St. Michael main campus in the Multipurpose Room of the Trinity Center at 7pm. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Please RSVP to Stacey (staceytbyrd@gmail.com) by Wednesday, September 8th so that they have an idea of how many people to expect.

  • UPCOMING MASS SCHEDULE
September 4/5: Sat at 5:30pm and Sun at 9am and 11am (all at Doggett)
    September 12th: Sat at 5:30pm, Sun at 9am, 11am (at Witherspoon), 7pm.

  • TOPICAL DISCUSSIONS
If you have any topics that you would be interested in discussing, please send them to Mary Bridget this week and she'll send out a list of suggested topics next week. If you are willing to lead one of these topical discussions, just let her know what day and topic you would like and then send a short reading and any guiding questions a week before you lead the discussion.

  • SOCIAL/SERVICE EVENTS
During our potluck, several people suggested possible social and service activities: hiking, movie nights, planting a food garden, sports games, river/greenway cleanup, trivia night at a bar, and helping at Catholic Parish Outreach. Let Mary Bridget know if you would be willing to organize one of these event or if you have any other ideas for social or service activities.
